Therefore, if you are planning to gift a ring to your lover this engagement, do it so, but only after a thorough research on the diamond stone.
To start with, the thing which is the most important is the 4 C’s of diamond i.e. Color, Clarity, Carat and Cut. In reference to the color of diamond, people often carry notion that diamond are colorless. Rather, it would be appropriate to say that many people believe that diamonds come without colors, and if they get to see a colored diamond, they will not take it for diamond. That is the reason; they at the first go, ask for colorless diamond engagement rings. Diamonds are mostly rated as Colorless, Near Colorless, Faint Yellow, Light Yellow and Fancy, as per their quality.
Now, if we speak about the clarity of diamond, clarity refers to the purity of diamond. A diamond piece leading in clarity can also be referred as flawless diamond.
Diamond cut refers to the symmetry of diamond. Carat refers to the weight of the diamond. 1 carat diamond equals 100 points. And in the end, always remember to get your diamonds certified.

What diamond engagement ring resembles the Whitehall White Star ring?
My girlfriend loved the Whitehall White star ring but now that store has goen bankrupt and they are no longer available. Are there any other rings that resemble that one? It had a small diamond mounted in the band under the solitaire so when you look at the side you can see it. Thanks for all the help.
Do you have a picture or link?
My understanding is that a Whitehall white star diamond is simply a branded diamond with more facets than the typical Princess or Round Brilliant cut. Kay and Jared Jewelers sells their "Leo" diamond (with more facets) which is probably similar. Personally, I would never buy a diamond from Kay, Jared, or any other mall store. You probably dodged a bullet with Whitehall going out of business - you likely would have gotten ripped off with a low-clarity fad diamond with an EGL certification.
When you do buy, make sure your diamond has a AGS or GIA certification - these certification labs have the best reputation. Look for "ideal" or "excellent" cut! You can add 100 extra facets to a diamond, but it won't sparkle in all light environments unless the actual proportions are perfect - that's why you want AGS Ideal or GIA Excellent cut grades.
Are you looking for a Round or Princess cut? And basically, you're looking for a setting with a surprise stone, right? A setting with a surprise diamond can be found almost anywhere.
Here's an incredibly overpriced, low quality ring from Jared with a surprise diamond on the side (see images): http://www.jared.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product1|10451|10001|-1|531035006|19061|19061.20807
Here's a reasonably priced setting from Whiteflash with a surprise stone (see enlarged image): http://www.whiteflash.com/Engagement-Rings/Styles/Solitaire/Comfort-Fit--Surprise--Diamond-Ring_765.htm#
As for diamonds, these are lovely - ideal proportions, AGS/GIA certified, and reasonably priced (sorry, I'm not sure what size diamond you're looking for). All of these have pictures and analysis of each actual diamond:

You could also check BlueNile for pricing, however BlueNile doesn't have any actual diamond images, so you'd have to purchase and have the diamond delivered before you actually get to see the diamond. That's a deal breaker for me.
